Custom joinery in Dubai is furniture and fittings built to your actual measurements in a workshop and installed on site. We make ours in Jebel Ali, so you pay for the piece and the install, not for a middleman between you and the bench.
Why work with Crafty Clare decoration design LLC
- In-house joinery workshop in Jebel Ali rather than a subcontracted build
- Turnkey interiors covering design, joinery, fit-out and finishing under one contract
- Made-to-measure production sized to the real room, not to a standard unit
- Direct owner contact on phone and WhatsApp at 0508570938

What custom joinery means in Dubai
Custom joinery means made-to-measure cabinetry, counters and feature work built for one specific space. It is the opposite of a flat pack unit bought at a fixed width and pushed against a wall.
Dubai buildings rarely give you square walls, level floors or standard ceiling heights. Fitted joinery closes those gaps as part of the build, and it also carries the services. Sockets, data points, AC thermostats and drainage runs get cut into the carcass at the workshop, not drilled on site.
Fitted joinery vs off the shelf
- Off the shelf: fixed widths of 60, 90 or 120 cm, one factory finish, installed in a day, replaced rather than repaired when it fails.
- Made to measure: measured on site, produced as one carcass, finished to match doors or wall colour, with integrated lighting and concealed handles.
- Long term: a custom carcass can be re-fronted with new doors and worktops years later, because the box is fixed to the structure properly.
Why an in-house Jebel Ali workshop changes cost, lead time and quality control
When the same company designs, builds and installs, you remove one markup and one waiting list. It is the single biggest reason our quotes read lower than a broker quote for the same drawing.
Most joinery contractor Dubai pricing works like this: the contractor prices the job, then shops it out to a workshop that takes its own margin. That layer typically adds 15 to 30 percent, and it slows everything down because your job sits behind whatever that workshop is already making. Our production runs in Jebel Ali under the same roof as the design team, so a question about a hinge or an edge detail is answered at the bench, not by email.
Quality control works the same way. Veneer leaves are matched and numbered before pressing. Sprayed lacquer is checked under the same light it will be seen in. If a door edge is wrong, it is remade in the workshop instead of argued about on a site visit.
Lead times stay tighter too. A typical package is 3 to 5 weeks in production because we are not queuing for someone else's capacity, against 6 to 9 weeks when a job disappears into a third party workshop.
What you can commission from our Jebel Ali workshop
Almost anything you would otherwise buy as a fitted item. The common commissions we quote for are:
- Reception counters, back counters and waiting area seating
- Media walls, TV units and floating consoles
- Fitted wardrobes, walk-in closets and full height storage walls
- Custom cabinetry for kitchens, pantries, laundry and vanities
- Feature partitions, slatted screens and room dividers
- Wall panelling, headboard walls and vanity units
- Retail display units, exhibition counters and shop fittings
Every commission starts with a site survey and a shop drawing. You see dimensions, thicknesses, joint details and the finish schedule before anything is cut.

Custom joinery cost in Dubai
Indicative Dubai market ranges for 2026 are AED 1,600 to AED 3,200 per linear metre for fitted cabinetry, and AED 2,200 to AED 8,000 per linear metre for counters and feature joinery. Finish and hardware move the number more than size does.
Working ranges we quote from:
- Fitted wardrobe, laminate finish: AED 1,600 to AED 2,200 per linear metre
- Fitted wardrobe, veneer or sprayed lacquer: AED 2,400 to AED 3,600 per linear metre
- Reception counter, laminate with solid surface top: AED 2,200 to AED 3,500 per linear metre
- Reception counter, veneer with engineered stone top: AED 4,000 to AED 8,000 per linear metre
- Media wall or TV feature unit: AED 8,000 to AED 25,000 per unit
- Vanity unit with stone top: AED 2,800 to AED 7,500 per unit
- Wall panelling: AED 450 to AED 1,200 per square metre
Worked example: 6 m reception counter plus 12 m of fitted cabinetry
Take a small commercial reception in Jebel Ali:
- Reception counter, 6 m long, veneer carcass with engineered stone top at AED 4,200 per linear metre: AED 25,200.
- Fitted cabinetry, 12 m long, sprayed lacquer with soft close hardware at AED 2,300 per linear metre: AED 27,600.
- Delivery, site protection, installation and commissioning: AED 4,200.
- Total: AED 57,000 excluding VAT, about AED 59,850 with 5 percent VAT.
The same job in laminate throughout would land nearer AED 38,000 to AED 42,000. Stone tops, veneer and lacquer are what you are paying for, plus the labour to fit them without visible joints.
Materials and finishes that hold up to UAE heat and humidity
For Dubai, choose the carcass first and the visible finish second. Humidity and air conditioning do more damage to joinery here than sunlight does.
- Carcass: 18 mm moisture resistant MDF for dry rooms, marine grade plywood for kitchens, vanities and anything close to AC condensate
- Edging: 2 mm ABS or solid timber lipping. Thin PVC tape lifts at the corners within a season or two
- Laminate: the hardest wearing finish per dirham, good for kitchens, back of house and rental units
- Veneer: real timber grain, needs a protective lacquer or oil, and should stay out of wet zones
- Sprayed lacquer: best for colour matching and a seamless look on MDF, more expensive and softer against impact
- Stone tops: engineered stone or solid surface for counters and vanities, always silicone sealed at the wall and floor junctions
- Hardware: soft close hinges and runners rated for humid interiors, in coated or stainless steel rather than bare carbon steel

Timeline and how to pick a joinery contractor in Dubai
A mid size joinery package usually runs 4 to 6 weeks from confirmed drawings to installation. Installation itself is the shortest part, typically 2 to 5 days on site.
The process, step by step
- Site survey, 1 to 2 days. Measurements, photographs, floor levels, AC grilles, socket positions and access route.
- Shop drawings and material schedule, 3 to 5 days. Carcass build, thicknesses, edge details, hardware and finish.
- Sample sign off, 2 to 3 days. Laminate, veneer, lacquer and hardware samples approved in your hand.
- Production in the Jebel Ali workshop, 2 to 4 weeks depending on volume.
- Delivery and installation, 2 to 5 days, sequenced around ceilings, flooring and MEP.
- Snagging and handover, 2 to 3 days.
How joinery fits a fit-out programme
Joinery goes in after MEP first fix, blockwork and ceiling works, and before final paint touch up and MEP trim. Measure too early and the counters will not fit the finished room. The practical rule is to appoint the workshop early and freeze the design late, once floor and ceiling levels are locked.
You can see the wider sequence in our interior fit-out and joinery guides, and the full scope we deliver in our custom joinery and interior fit-out services in Dubai. Finished work sits in custom joinery projects from our Jebel Ali workshop.
What to check before you sign
- Visit the workshop. If you cannot see where your job will be built, you cannot judge the joinery.
- Ask for shop drawings, not a mood board. Dimensions and joint details tell you what you are buying.
- Confirm how sockets, data points and thermostats are cut into the carcass.
- Ask who handles approvals. For licensed commercial premises, fixed joinery is normally submitted as part of the fit-out permit with the layout, MEP and civil defence drawings, handled by the fit-out contractor.
- Agree a payment schedule tied to production milestones rather than a full payment upfront.
When you are ready to compare numbers, request a custom joinery quote with your room sizes and a rough finish preference. A measured quote is more useful than a per metre guess.
Frequently asked questions
How much does custom joinery cost in Dubai?
Fitted cabinetry in laminate runs about AED 1,600 to AED 2,200 per linear metre, and veneer or lacquer AED 2,400 to AED 3,600 per linear metre. Reception counters range from AED 2,200 per linear metre in laminate to AED 8,000 per linear metre in veneer with an engineered stone top. A 6 m counter plus 12 m of fitted cabinetry typically lands between AED 38,000 and AED 60,000 depending on finish and hardware.
How long does custom joinery take from site survey to installation?
Allow 4 to 6 weeks for a mid size package: 1 to 2 days for the survey, 3 to 5 days for shop drawings and approvals, 2 to 4 weeks in production and 2 to 5 days on site. Larger villa or commercial joinery packages can run 8 to 10 weeks, so build the workshop slot into the fit-out programme early.
What is the difference between bespoke joinery and off-the-shelf cabinetry?
Off-the-shelf units come in fixed widths, so gaps are closed with filler panels and the finish rarely matches the walls. Bespoke joinery is drawn from site measurements and built as one carcass, so it can hide AC ducts, run flush to the ceiling and carry integrated lighting and concealed handles.
Which materials are best for custom joinery in Dubai's humidity?
Use marine grade plywood or moisture resistant MDF for carcasses, 2 mm ABS or solid timber edging instead of thin PVC tape, and neutral cure silicone at every junction. For counters and vanities, engineered stone or solid surface with sealed joints holds up better than timber in air conditioned, humid rooms.
Do I need DET approval for joinery in a commercial unit in Dubai?
Fixed joinery usually goes in as part of the fit-out permit, so it is submitted with the layout, MEP and civil defence drawings rather than approved on its own. If your counter, partition or storage changes the layout of licensed premises, expect the fit-out contractor to handle that submission. Confirm the approval route before production starts.
Can I visit the joinery workshop in Jebel Ali before placing an order?
Yes. We manufacture in Jebel Ali, and we would rather you see the machinery, edge banding and veneer samples before you commit. A workshop visit takes about 45 minutes and is the fastest way to compare laminate, veneer and lacquer finishes in person.
