Exhibition stand design Dubai: custom builds in Jebel Ali

October 10, 2026 · 7 min readExhibition stand design Dubai: custom builds in Jebel Ali

A custom exhibition stand in Dubai works best when one team designs it, builds it in its own workshop and installs it on site. Crafty Clare decoration design LLC does all three from our joinery workshop in Jebel Ali.

Why work with Crafty Clare decoration design LLC

  • Turnkey delivery from concept design to finishing and handover
  • Own joinery workshop in Jebel Ali, Dubai
  • In-house joinery, spray and installation team
  • Fixed price quote issued before cutting starts
  • Dry build and pre-assembly in the workshop before site install
  • One point of contact from first sketch to final dismantle

What a turnkey exhibition stand actually includes

Turnkey means one contract covers the whole stand, from the first drawing to the empty hall on break down night. You approve one price and one programme, and we handle the rest.

  • Design: space planning, 3D visuals, elevations and lighting layout
  • Joinery: walls, fascia, reception counter, storage, plinths, laminate and spray finishes
  • Graphics: backlit fabric walls, printed foamex, vinyl, frosted panels and floor graphics
  • Electrical: distribution board, spotlights, LED strips, sockets and screen mounting
  • Flooring: raised platform, vinyl, carpet tiles and edge trims
  • Site work: transport, install, snagging, daily tidy up, break down and disposal

Our exhibition stand design and build service covers every line above under a single contract.

Modular shell scheme or custom stand for a Dubai show

Pick shell scheme for a 9 sqm plot and a tight budget. Pick a custom exhibition stand in Dubai when you have 18 sqm or more, a product to demonstrate, or a brand that has to stand apart from the row of identical booths.

Shell scheme, 3x3 at a Dubai venue:

  • System walls, fascia with name board, carpet, one socket and two spotlights
  • Package cost usually AED 9,000 to 14,000
  • Fast to set up and low risk, but it looks like the plots around it
  • Graphics are stickers applied to the system walls

Custom build:

  • Layout, height, storage and lighting designed around your product
  • Starts near AED 2,000 per sqm and rises with height, screens and finishes
  • Panels, counters and lighting can be reused at the next show
  • Better for demos, hospitality and lead capture

Exhibition stand cost in Dubai: AED per sqm and a worked example

Custom stand cost in Dubai runs about AED 2,000 to 3,500 per sqm before VAT. Shell scheme sits closer to AED 900 to 1,500 per sqm all in.

Typical ranges:

  • 3x3 stand, 9 sqm, custom: AED 18,000 to 28,000
  • 6x3 stand, 18 sqm, custom: AED 38,000 to 56,000
  • 8x6 stand, 48 sqm, custom: AED 105,000 to 165,000
  • Shell scheme 3x3 at a Dubai venue: AED 9,000 to 14,000

Worked example, 6x3 custom stand, 18 sqm, three day show:

  • Design fee and 3D visuals: AED 4,500
  • Joinery carcass, laminate and spray paint: AED 16,000
  • Backlit fabric wall graphics: AED 6,500
  • Storage counter with lockable cupboard: AED 4,800
  • 55 inch screen hire, bracket and media player: AED 2,800
  • Electrical, spotlights, sockets and cable management: AED 5,200
  • Flooring, skirting and edge trims: AED 3,200
  • Transport, install, snagging and dismantle: AED 9,500
  • Venue and permit charges: AED 2,500

Total AED 54,000, roughly AED 3,000 per sqm, excluding VAT and any rigging ordered through the venue. Rebuild the same stand at a second show and the graphics, counter and panels come back out of storage. That usually brings the exhibition stand price for an 18 sqm rebuild down to AED 25,000 to 32,000. Reuse is planned at the first design review, not after the invoice lands. DWTC and venue rules that shape the design

Venue rules shape the build more than taste does. Stand height, rigging, fire certificates and hall access decide what can be drawn. This is why a DWTC exhibition stand contractor is judged on paperwork as much as on design.

  • Stand height. Most Dubai halls cap standard builds around 2.5 to 3 metres, with 4 metres and above needing structural drawings and venue approval.
  • Rigging. Hanging banners and lighting trusses need a rigging plot, a venue approved rigger and advance booking.
  • Fire rated materials. MDF, plywood, fabric and foam need fire retardant certification, and exit routes stay clear.
  • Electrical. Distribution boards, earthing and cable protection must satisfy venue and Civil Defence requirements.
  • Hall access. Loading bay slots are booked, and the stand must fit through service doors in lift sized sections.
  • Build-up and break-down. Dubai World Trade Centre normally allows two to three days of build-up before doors open and one night for break-down after close. Miss that window and the stand travels home packed.

Build timeline, permits and Civil Defence sign-off

Ten weeks from show day is comfortable. Four weeks is expensive.

  1. Week minus 10: brief, plot details, budget band, design starts
  2. Week minus 8: 3D design approved, finishes locked, price confirmed
  3. Week minus 6: joinery cut and assembled in the Jebel Ali workshop
  4. Week minus 4: graphics to print, screens booked, show services ordered
  5. Week minus 3: dry build, client walkthrough, snag list closed
  6. Week minus 2: stand drawings, insurance and Civil Defence paperwork submitted through the organiser
  7. Week minus 1: pack, transport and build-up inside the venue window
  8. Show days: daily check, cleaning and quick fixes
  9. Last night: break down, load out, storage of reusable items

The organiser handles the event permit and DET paperwork, but stand drawings, contractor details and fire certificates come from you. We prepare our part for every submission. If the showroom or office behind the stand needs work too, there are more fit-out and joinery guides on the site.

Why joinery in Jebel Ali beats importing a stand kit

A kit shipped in arrives as fixed panels. If a wall is 40 mm out or the venue shortens build-up, nothing can be changed on the floor.

  • Cutting, edging, spraying and dry build under one roof in Jebel Ali
  • Sizes checked against the plot before anything travels
  • Build-up changes made on site the same day
  • Storage between shows and reuse of panels, counters and lighting
  • Repairs handled in Dubai, not across time zones

Five questions to ask a stand contractor

  1. Do you build the joinery in your own workshop or subcontract it?
  2. What is excluded: rigging, power, venue services, storage, VAT?
  3. Will I see 3D visuals and a dry build before the stand travels?
  4. Who submits the stand drawings and fire certificates?
  5. What does the same stand cost at the next show?

Send the plot size, hall and budget through book a stand design consultation and we will come back with a layout and a fixed price.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an exhibition stand cost in Dubai?

A 3x3 custom stand usually costs AED 18,000 to 28,000, a 6x3 around AED 38,000 to 56,000, and an 8x6 from AED 105,000 to 165,000 before VAT. Shell scheme packages at a Dubai venue run about AED 9,000 to 14,000 for a 3x3. Rigging, venue power and storage are often charged separately.

How long does it take to build a custom exhibition stand in Dubai?

Ten weeks from brief to show day is comfortable. That covers about four weeks of design and approvals, three weeks of joinery, two weeks for printing and permits, then the venue build-up window. Shorter timelines are possible with overtime and ready made panels, and they cost more.

Do I need approval for my stand at DWTC?

Yes. Stand drawings, fire retardant certificates, rigging plots and contractor details go to the venue and organiser weeks before build-up. Builds over 4 metres, double deck designs and truss lighting usually need extra structural and Civil Defence sign off. Your contractor should prepare that pack with you.

Can you build a custom stand on a 3x3 shell scheme plot?

Yes. A 3x3 upgrade with a backlit fabric back wall, a small counter and a screen typically costs AED 12,000 to 18,000 on top of the shell scheme package. It lifts the plot without buying extra floor space.

Can the stand be reused at another Dubai show?

Most of it can. Panels, counters, lighting and flooring come back into storage at our Jebel Ali workshop. A rebuild of an 18 sqm stand usually lands between AED 25,000 and 32,000, plus new graphics if the campaign has changed.
